NOT FAR ARE THE DAYS WHEN THE PETROL,DIESEL & LPG PRICES GO UP TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY BECOME UNUSABLE TO A COMMON MAN.
In the recent days we can hear a lot of news regarding the hike in petroleum products, Inflation Rate is also attached to the hiked fuel prices.
Now its the time when people complain and protest aganist the Government. In the process no one is concerned regarding the alternatives that can be used. No one wants to go back in time and remember how most of the things went on in 70’s. if we do move back in time I am sure that we can find a suitable alternative.
Biogas technology provides an alternate source of energy in rural India, and is hailed as an archetypal appropriate technology that meets the basic need for cooking fuel in rural areas. Using local resources, viz. cattle waste and other organic wastes, energy and manure are derived. Realization of this potential and the fact that India supports the largest cattle wealth led to the promotion of National Biogas Programme in a major way in the late 1970s as an answer to the growing fuel crisis.
Now my question to the general public is why can’t a similar process be carried out for urban India, In urban India we have thousands of tonnes of vegetable wastes going into dumping yards, human and cattle excreta going out of the city as a waste. Just imagine how much amount of energy is flowing out as waste.
If we are able to produce Bio Gas out of it, cant we solve the problems caused due to fuel hike atleast for a small percentage???

In my experience of having been born and brought up in India I have seen that majority of them want everything free and without having to work for it. It is more as you go into poorer localities of the cities and villages. It takes an attitudinal change among the masses to achieve anything substantial. Right now I don’t see it happening for the next couple of generations... by then global fuel reserves will be over and we will have no alternative but to search and find alternatives...
